06/18-20/2010 - The dojo attended the 26th Annual USKK International Championships. Alec attended Mr. Keeney's seminar and then competed in the tournament the next day, placing 2nd in sparring and 3rd in kata.
06/06/2010 - Sensei's Curt Jones and Mike Jones both attended the promotion ceremoney for Mr. Glenn Keeney, both said they had a great time seeing old dojo mates and friends. It was a first class event.
06/05/2010 - The dojo went to the Kobayashi National Karate Championships and we all judged. Alec competed in the 15-17 Black Belt Division (for the second time) and beat a previously undefeated State and National Champion, to take first Place.
04/25/2010 - We took a field trip over to Donnie Michael's dojo for some sparring practice. Michael's sensei has sprring training at his dojo for visitors every other week. It is not uncommon to find guests from several dojo in the state coming together for training and fun.

02/07/2010 - We have been training hard, John Manley has been a constant guest and has been a a class every week since December 27, 2009. Manley Sensei has decided to become a regular instructor and will teach one class a week, these classes are by invitation only.
01/03/2010 - Hajime Keiko - First class of the year. John Manley Sensei visited again and we spent several hours working Jujutsu.
12/27/2009 - Had the end of year training, we had as guests Curt Jones Shihan and two of his students, Mark Campbell Sensei from Atlanta, Georgia and John Manley Sensei from Anderson. We worked on Bunkai and Ne-waza, a good time was had by all.

11/07-08/2009 - Jones Sensei, Amber, Curtis, Alec, Nick and Jason Thompson all attended the Zen Nihon Budo Renmei 2009 Indianapolis Fall Budo-Sai. Courses were offered in Aikido, Naginata, Aikido Newaza, Iaido and Karate. Jones Sensei taught the karate section. It was a great event and plans are already forming for another event in the Spring of 2010. A more complete report of the event will be coming soon.
10/05-08/2009 - Jones Sensei was away for job training, Sensei is now a certified close-quarters combat insructor. Durring his off time, Sensei trained with Mr. Johnstone at the Senbukan Dojo and had lunch with Mr. Bryant of the Rishinkan Dojo.
09/24/2009 - Members of the Rishinkan Karate-do Kyokai, Mr. Andy Bryant and Mr. Chris Corbit, visited the dojo for training. They observed class and worked on some two person exersises.
09/04-06/2009 - We attended the PKC International Karate Tournament, it was a nice weekend and all of our students that competed placed in the top ten;
Curtis Jones placed 4th in sports kenjutsu (Chambara), 5th in weapons, 6th in forms, and 6th in sparring in the 13-17 year old black belt division. Alec Jones placed 6th in sports kenjutsu, 6th in weapons, and 7th in forms in the 13-17 year old black belt division. Nick Jones placed 10th in forms and 5th in sparring in the junior advanced division. Kira Kegg placed 2nd in forms in the girls junior novice division, and Mike Kegg placed 6th in forms for the adult advanced men’s division.

07/18/2009 - The dojo attended the PKC Tournament hosted by Curt Jones Shihan, Curtis and Alec Jones competed for the first time and did very well.

06/27/2009 - Jones Sensei took a break from all the work at the dojo and attended the Haynes-Apperson Tournament hosted by Eddie Bathea Kyoshi. Jones Sensei acted as a referee for kumite.
06/21 - 06/30/2009 - Jones Sensei and all of the students have been working on the dojo and dojo garden; we now have outside lighting and a huge koi pond. Thank you to everyone for their help.
06/20/2009 - Jones Sensei assisted Curt Jones Shihan with a brown belt grading at the Marion Komakai.
06/12-06/14/2009 - Jones Sensei along with Curt Jones Shihan attended the USKK Internationals in Peoria, IL. Sifu Lui Chang I was the feature seminar on Friday night and they also attended the Gojuryu Seminar taught by Glenn Keeney Hanshi on Saturday morning.

05/18-05/22/2009 - Jones Sensei was away for the week and the dojo was closed. Jones Sensei went away for work related training to train under Dr. George Thompson, a Judo-ka and founder of the Verbal Judo Institute. Jones Sensei had previously attended the basic training and this week was for Instructor training. Jones Sensei is now a certified verbal judo Instructor.
04/24-26/2009 - Jones Sensei was a guest at the Arizona Budokan Dojo of Rudy Croswell Sensei and taught a three day seminar on Karate, Kobudo and Tuite. Covering the kata Kakuha, Hakuryu, Suchin, Hakutsuru, Miyazato No Kon Ichi and Ni, and Miyazao No Tonfa. Picures
04/04/2009 - The Dojo took a field trip over to workout with the IWU Budokai. Jones Sensei taught for three hours as a guest instructor. After the workout everyone was invited over to Len Pellman Sensei's house for a traditional style japanese meal and fellowship, all in all it was an 8 hour day and everyone enjoyed themselves.

03/22/2009 - We attended the 2nd Indiana Karate Tournament of the year. 03/2009 - We have made a few visits over to the Marion Komakai and they have come over to train with us.
02/08/2009 - Sensei Larry Pickel visited the dojo. It was great to have him visit the dojo, he watched all of our kata and waza, he confirmed that they were the same as he was taught at the Jundokan in the early 1960s. Sensei Pickel also sat and told stories of his training in Okinawa and answered questions from the students. We look forward to his next visit. Pictues

The year of 2008 was also busy, with Jones Sensei keeping up his Police Instruction. Sensei Jones (Chief Deputy Jones) saved three children from a raging house fire. In 2008 Jones Sensei received the Indiana Governors Heroism of Valor Award and was the 2008 NAPO Top Cop. At the dojo, we added some new equipment and also a few new students. Jones Sensei attended several events outside the dojo this year, he also has taught at the Marion Komakai and has attended promotion exams there. David Dobbs from Eishinkan Texas was up for training. It was a good year. We trained with Lloyd Johnson Shihan. Sensei also made several trips over to the IWU Budokai.

08/07/08 - Jones Sensei will be on TV at the Colts game receiving the First ever - Colts Anthem Angel Award.
6/30/08 - Gokenkan Yahoo group started.
The Year of 2007 was busy. Jones Sensei was kept busy and taught several Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics Courses. Sensei affiliated with the IGKA and was appointed USA Chief Instructor and International Vice President. We also trained with Lloyd Johnson Shihan several times. Sensei also visited the IWU Budokai for instruction and training. At work sensei received 3 life saving medals.
10/06/06 - Jones Sensei has passed his certification as a Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics Instructor for the ILEA.
10/02/06 - Jones Sensei spent a week training with Col. Paul Whitsell, Sensei.
09/24/06 - Lenard Pellman Sensei, Bud McCullum Sensei and Curt Jones Shihan all visited the dojo for training. Pellman Sensei is the co-author of Flashing Steel.

11/08 to 11/12/2002 - Jones sensei was in Dixon, Ca with Nohara Sensei training and assisting with a seminar. While there Jones sensei trained with Azuma Sensei and with Nishiuchi Sensei. He also competed in the US-Okinawa World Tournament and placed First in Kata and then won Grand Champion.

05/02 - Jones Sensei has changed professions and is now a police officer.
