Curt E. Jones Shihan
Mr. Jones began his study of Karate in 1967 under the direction of GoJu-Ryu karate instructor Mr. Glenn R. Keeney.
In 1967, Mr. Jones was in a street confrontation with older boys. After the confrontation he then discussed studying self-defense with his father. Agreeing, his father drove him the 40 miles to the nearest karate school in Anderson, Indiana to meet Mr. Glenn R. Keeney. Mr. Keeney agreed to teach Mr. Jones and his father left him there until three or four in the morning, making his first lesson, one he would never forget.
After his promotion to the rank of blue belt, he enlisted in the Army as a 101st Airborn Ranger, where he also studied Aikido with Kenji Tomiki for a short period of time.
In 1977 he began teaching a small group at his home; in 1982 he opened his first karate school, Komakai Academy of Karate, at the Grant County YMCA in Marion, Indiana.

In 1990, Mr. Jones and Mr. C. Michial Jones opened the second Komakai Academy of Karate in Marion. This dojo soon became a competitive factor, placing third in Best Supporting School at the 1990-91 PKC National Tournament. In February of 1992 the dojo was moved to a better location and was nominated as the PKC Most Competitive School.
In 1992, Mr. Jones moved and he opened the Komakai Academy of Self Defense in Indianapolis. At the 1992 Indiana State Banquet, Mr. Keeney awarded him the title of Sensei. In 1996, he closed his dojo and became the Senior Instructor at the Komakai Honbu, until it was sold by Mr. Keeney in 2004. Since that time Mr.Jones has returned to Marion, Indiana and is teaching at the Grant County YMCA.

Mr. Jones was graded to 6th Dan by Mr. Keeney and he is the senior most student of Mr. Keeney. In addittion he has been graded to 8th Dan Hanshi in Gojuryu and Tuite by the Okinawa Gojuryu Karate Kenpo Renmei and the Nippon Karate-do Gojuryu Gokenkai. He has been graded to 7th Dan in Shoreiryu by the Kondo No Sho Kai.
