The International Gojuryu Karate Association is recognized as a traditional martial arts organization and is an independent Association of the Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Kyokai. The Association was formed under the auspices of Eiichi Miyazato, Hanshi 10th dan. Master Miyazato was the leader of the Okinawa Goju-Ryu karate do kyo kai and held this position until he passed away in 1999. Koshin Iha, Hanshi 10th dan, Chairman of The OGKK and Successor to Miyazato, Yoshio Hichiya, Hanshi 10th Dan, President of the OGKK and Okinawa Karate-do Federation and Dennis May, Hanshi 8th Dan, World President of the IGKA, recognizes the IGKA USA as a member group in good standing.

The Association was formed because of an overwhelming interest in Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do worldwide. Therefore, the Association was formed to popularize Goju-Ryu Karate in the United States and throughout the world. We offer an organized teaching curriculum and ranking system to those martial artists interested in developing skill in the arts of Goju-Ryu Karate. The Association was also establish to preserve Goju-Ryu’s original combativeness and warrior spirit. The Association also seeks to foster certain martial virtues in its members and cultivate a spirit upon which to build character, sincerity, perseverance, and respect.
